Woman killed in house fire in Mercer County

SHENANGO TOWNSHIP, Pa. — A woman was killed in a house fire in Mercer County.

The fire started around 11 a.m. Monday at a home on Buckwalter Road in Shenango Township.

The initial 911 call indicated that a woman on oxygen was trapped in the home.

At least one neighbor helped police kick in the door of the home and tried to run inside, but was held back by the thick smoke and flames.

Neighbors told police they heard explosions.

When firefighters showed up, they saw flames shooting through the roof.

The name of the person who was killed has not been released.
