LOS ANGELES — "Friends" is the latest sitcom leaving Netflix for a new streaming service.
The streaming platform announced Tuesday that the popular show is leaving at the start of 2020. The news comes nearly two weeks after Netflix announced it will lose "The Office" to NBCUniversal's new streaming service.
E! News reported that "Friends" is going to WarnerMedia's HBO Max streaming service, which is set to launch in spring 2020. WarnerMedia announced the name of the new streaming service Tuesday. It will also include "Pretty Little Liars" and "The Fresh Prince of Bel Air."
"The One Where We Have To Say Goodbye," the company tweeted. "We’re sorry to see Friends go to Warner's streaming service at the beginning of 2020 (in The US). Thanks for the memories, gang."
Netflix reportedly spent $100 million to keep "Friends" available on the platform through 2019 after fans panicked about it leaving at the top of the year.
