The alleged suspect in the killings of five people in Oregon was found dead in Washington state.
Law enforcement said that five people and several animals were found dead on a rural property near Forest Grove, Oregon. The remains were found when firefighters were responding to a fire on the morning of Aug. 22, ABC News reported.
The Washington County Sheriff’s Office said it was a “complex investigation” when they identified the alleged killer as Benjamin Charles Parker.
Officials do not believe the homicides were random and that Parker “was known to the subjects,” NBC News reported.
“I will say that in my 22 years here, I have not been a part of or witnessed a scene quite this complex involving this type of an investigation,” Sheriff Caprice Massey said, according to ABC News. “This incident is deeply concerning to our community.”
Parker, who lived where the bodies were found, was also found dead in his car in Enumclaw, Washington.
Law enforcement did not release the details of those who were killed, including their names, how they were killed, and any connection they may have had. They also did not give details on the animals that were found dead, The Assocaited Press reported.
