Alabama dad accused of abusing 3-month-old daughter, breaking 22 of her ribs

SHELBY COUNTY, Ala. — An Alabama man is facing an aggravated child abuse charge after police said he broke 22 of his baby girl’s ribs.

According to AL.com, authorities arrested Dashun Montae Bush, 19, of Wilsonville, on Monday, two weeks after the infant’s mother brought the 3-month-old girl to the hospital. Doctors said the child had 22 broken ribs, as well as a broken leg and arm, WBMA-TV reported.

Investigators believe the baby’s injuries occurred during multiple instances of abuse, according to the news outlets. She has been placed in the care of the Alabama Department of Human Resources, AL.com reported.

Bush was released from the Shelby County Jail on Monday, the same day he was arrested, after he posted $60,000 bail, officials said.
