ELFRIDA, Ariz. — A couple in Arizona is facing charges after investigators said they left their child alone for weeks during the holidays.
Sheriff’s officials in Elfrida, Arizona, were called to do a welfare check at a home when a caller suspected a child was there alone, KNXV reported.
Investigators said the boy’s mother, Melissa Green, left the home to go out of state before Thanksgiving, and the boy’s father, Bobby Green, had left shortly after Thanksgiving, KSAZ reported.
In a Facebook post, the Cochise County Sheriff’s Office said the child at the house said that he had been left with frozen food, but that he had not attended school for at least the last two weeks.
Bobby and Melissa Green are both facing child neglect charges and were arrested when they arrived home.
