A Virginia woman caught a sleepy bear snoozing in her backyard last week during a particularly hot day.
Regina Keller snapped a photo and videos of the black bear as it got comfortable in her plastic pool and plopped down for a nap on July 19.
“We definitely need a bigger pool,” she captioned a video of the bear on Facebook.
Temperatures reached 97 degrees that day in Fort Valley, where Keller lives.
Keller’s home, located near George Washington National Forest, is in an area that’s home to lots of wildlife. She’s used to seeing foxes, deer and bears on a regular basis. But this was the biggest bear she’s seen this year, she told CNN.
Keller told CNN she was watering plants when she noticed the bear dipping into the kiddie pool. Once in, she said, he seemed “content and refreshed.”
Keller told the news station she sat and watched the bear for about an hour before her grandchildren arrived at her home with their dogs, and the sound scared the bear away.
