Courtney Love named Icon for NME

Courtney Love is now officially an icon.

The singer/actress has been chosen as the recipient of NME’s Icon Award.

She started with her grunge band Hole before branching out into a solo career.

She is the widow of Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain and mother to Francis Bean Cobain. In 1992, Vanity Fair called the couple “the closest thing the alternative nation had to a king and queen"

Love also made a name for herself as an actress. She was nominated for a Golden Globe for “The People vs Larry Flynt." She also appeared in “Sons of Anarchy,” “Empire” and “Revenge.”
