OAKLAND COUNTY, Mich. — A driver was injured Sunday after a man threw multiple sandbags from an overpass and hit the vehicle she was driving, investigators said.

Michigan State Police said a man got into a crash, and as he was walking from the accident he came across several 40-pound bags of concrete for use in construction work on the overpass, WNEM reported.

The man started throwing the bags from the overpass. One of the bags smashed through a vehicle’s windshield, causing the driver to crash. The woman was taken to a hospital with serious injuries.

The man, who has not been identified, was arrested and charged with felonious assault causing great bodily harm and/or impairment, damage to private property and throwing objects at a motor vehicle causing injury.

A passing driver picked up the man and gave him a ride home, investigators said. During the ride, the man told the driver about throwing the sandbags. After dropping the man off, the driver called authorities.
