NEW YORK — “Gone Girl” actress Lisa Banes was in critical condition on Saturday after she was struck by a scooter in New York City.
Banes, 65, also known for her work in “Cocktail,” was struck Friday night as she was walking near Lincoln Center on Manhattan’s Upper West Side, WNBC reported.
The Broadway veteran was on her way to meet her wife, Kathryn Kranhold, for a dinner party at a friend’s place near Lincoln Center when she was hit by a person riding a red-and-black motorized vehicle with no plate, Variety reported.
According to the New York City Police Department, Banes had the right of way while using a crosswalk, WNBC reported. The driver of the scooter reportedly ran through a red light and hit the actress, the television station reported.
The driver of the scooter fled the scene, police said.
Banes, who is based in Los Angeles, was in New York to perform in a virtual adaptation of Eleanor Burgess’ “The Niceties,” Variety reported.
Banes has been a star in theater, the movies and on television. On Broadway, she appeared in “Rumors,” “Accent on Youth” and “Present Danger,” according to Variety. Her movie credits include “Young Guns,” “Pumpkin,” “Freedom Writers” and “A Cure for Wellness.” She has had television roles on “Roseanne,” “Six Feet Under,” “Desperate Housewives” and “Nashville.”
