SEMINOLE COUNTY, Fla. — A giant alligator stopped traffic on a Seminole County highway early Wednesday morning.
Video from WFTV shows police SUVs blocking the animal and working to shepherd it off of the roadway.
The Seminole County Sheriff’s Office shared close-up photos of the reptile on its Facebook page. Deputies said the alligator was 11 feet long, and likely was taking a stroll from nearby Lake Jesup.
Alligators are native to all of Florida’s 67 counties, according to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission.
Alligators are out roaming more frequently currently because they are looking for mates and nesting sites, WFTV reported.
