The Team USA women’s hockey team fell short of their dreams of gold but the players are still skating away with a silver medal.

Canada held on to win 3-2, CNN reported.
“I actually tore my MCL on Jan. 14 and didn’t even know if I was going to make it on the flight here. So for me to be able to battle out thanks to our med staff and our coaching staff, who continued to believe in me even when I didn’t and supported me along the way, that was a huge deal for me to even get minutes here,” Cavallini said in a report from Team USA .
Read More But Team USA had a lot to overcome this year. On top of COVID-19 protocols looming over all athletes at the Beijing Olympics, goalie Alex Cavallini said she has been playing with a torn MCL for weeks.
Despite her injury, she played four games allowing, five goals.
Luckily, Cavallini didn’t have to undergo surgery to repair the tear. Instead, she went through rehab to get back on the ice. She was able to join the team during their third workout and made her debut against Switzerland, the third game for Team USA in the Olympics, USA Today reported.
