Woman found alive inside submerged Jeep that plunged into lake

MARION COUNTY, Texas — A woman was pulled to safety on Friday from a Jeep that had plunged into a Texas lake, authorities said.

According to a news release from the Marion County Sheriff’s Office that was posted on Facebook, an emergency dispatcher received a call from a fisherman who reported seeing a black Jeep submerged in Lake o’ the Pines, about 40 feet from the Woody’s Camp boat ramp.

According to the sheriff’s office, the crew discovered a woman inside the vehicle and she was moving.

Deputies used a tow truck from an area wrecker service to pull the vehicle from the water, KLTV reported.

Members of the towing crew were assisted by deputies and area fishermen to pull the woman to safety, the news release stated. She was taken to an area hospital for an evaluation, KLTV reported.

According to the sheriff’s office, deputies determined that the woman had been listed as a missing person by the Longview Police Department. Longview is located about 30 miles southwest of Lake o’ the Pines.

The circumstances surrounding how the vehicle went into the lake remain unclear. An investigation is ongoing.
