AUTIN, TEXAS — The Austin Independent School District is learning not to trust the internet.
The Board of Trustees voted to change the name of Robert E. Lee Elementary in March. The decision included a nomination process that has, predictably, not gone as the board intended. Nominations are now closed, but the top 10 renaming recommendations leave the board with few good options. According to KXAN, the most nominations were to call the school Donald J. Trump Elementary, followed by just keeping the old name, Robert E. Lee Elementary. Other notable suggestions were: Adolf Hitler School for Friendship and Tolerance, Bleeding Heart Liberal Elementary, Bruce Lee Elementary, Boaty McBoatface Elementary School, Forgetting the Past Dooms You to Repeat It Elementary, John Cena Elementary and Schooly McSchoolerson.
The board will decide on the new name on May 23rd.
