U2 Makes Penultimate Stop On 360° Tour At Heinz Field In Pittsburgh

PITTSBURGH,None — U2 made its penultimate stop on its 360° Tour at Heinz Field in Pittsburgh on Tuesday.

Bono, along with The Edge, Adam Clayton and Larry Mullen, Jr., performed classics like "Mysterious Ways, "Until the End of the World," and "Even Better Than the Real Thing," and popular current songs like "Beautiful Day."

See & Be Seen was told U2 doesn't decide on its set lists until a couple hours before the show.

The U2 360° Tour that began in 2009 is reportedly the highest grossing tour of all time. Millions of fans have attended the Irish rock band's recent shows.

"Being able to have a show of this magnitude is huge," said Jim Sacco, Executive Director of Stadium Management at Heinz Field.

The U2 360° Tour was named after the 360-degree staging and audience configuration.

The set features a massive four-legged steel supporting rig nicknamed "The Claw," which takes days to construct in each touring city.

Set designer Willie Williams worked with architect Mark Fisher to create the design. Williams has worked with U2 since the 1980s.

With the 150-foot steel structure and a cylindrical video system of interlocking LED panels, concertgoers got the intimate experience at Heinz Field and throughout the world.

U2's tour director Craig Evans told See & Be Seen that the 14,000-square-foot cylinder screen adds to the band-audience relationship that U2 is known for creating during its concerts.

"Because of size and dimensions of the set and screen, you're up close and personal no matter where you sit," said Evans.

New York City post-punk band Interpol opened for U2. Other openers on the tour have included Florence and the Machines, Lenny Kravitz, The Fray, Snow Patrol and Muse.

U2's final stop on the tour is Moncton, New Brunswick, Canada for the Magnetic Hill Music Festival.

U2 was formed in the 1970s.
