VIDEO: Cyclist survives violent crash with car during Tour of Utah

A cyclist was seriously hurt during Stage 6 of the Tour of Utah race.

Irish cyclist Matt Brammeier was trying to catch up to the lead riders when he approached the hairpin turn at Guardsman Pass in Big Cottonwood Canyon too quickly.

Brammeier slammed into another cyclist’s support vehicle.

As other support vehicles and racers tried to help, two cyclists crashed into a motorcycle.

Brammeier was hospitalized with broken ribs, sacral and pelvic bones.

He tweeted from his hospital bed: “All good in the hood guys. Thanks for the all the messages.”

Doctors expect him to make a full recovery.
