SCOTTDALE, Pa.,None — In a new video posted to YouTube, teenage girls are seen brawling at a park in Scottdale, and the district attorney is investigating.
Investigators said the girls, ages 13 and 16, exchanged punches and wrestled on the ground at Garfield Park.
The video shows a number of people standing around, watching and yelling. Witnesses said the fight began with name-calling, but quickly escalated.
"They were calling names and pulling hair then all of a sudden they just start fist fighting. They left once and came back. All I know is they started fighting (again) after that," said witness Carl Fletcher.
Channel 11 News reporter Rick Earle learned that police are trying to determine if any adults were involved in encouraging the girls to fight.
"We are investigating further, because there may have been some adults there encouraging the fight. We've referred it to the Westmoreland County District Attorney's Office, and I'm sure they will get back in touch with me as soon as they can," said Scottdale police Officer Dennis Elcock.
There is no word yet if any charges will be filed.
