WESTMORELAND COUNTY, Pa. — The Westmoreland County Municipal Authority issued an alert Tuesday after several residents in many neighborhoods reported low water pressure and outages.
According to the authority’s website, “MAWC is isolating an area where we believe there is a leak in Pleasant Unity and West Point. Once that is completed, repairs will be made. Residents may be experiencing low water pressure or outages on the following streets:
- Bruno Road
- Lakewood
- Main Street - Pleasanat Unity
- Foxwood Lane
- St. Celica Road
- Armel
- Pipetown
- Lentz Road
- Lylak
- Hills Church Road
- Marguerite Road
- Marguerite Lake Road
- Volunteer Road
- Tartan Court
- Highland Dr
- Bernie Stone Road
- Oakhill Road
- Westmoreland Airpark
- American Legion Road
- Washinko Road
- Honor Roll Road"
Officials said a 16 inch water line ruptured around 6 a.m.
"I thought I didn't pay my bill. I called my daughter, and they didn't have water either," said customer Randy Watt.
Westmoreland County said about 500 people had no water in part of Unity and Hempfield Townships.
Service was restored around noon in Marguerite.
Most customers said they received a call about the situation, but Cathy Magrev said she didn't.
"You don't realize how many times you go to the water until it's not there," she said.
