GREENSBURG, Pa. — A witness who said he saw a truck speeding past him and a car stopped at a traffic light -- and knew there would be a crash -- called what happened “horrific."
The driver of the truck, Brian Clemons, was held for court on charges of vehicular homicide and driving under the influence of a controlled substance. Investigators said he failed a field sobriety test and tested positive for cocaine in his system within 24 hours after the crash.

The crash occurred in August of 2018 on Route 22 in Salem Township, Westmoreland County.
Charles Hodgkins, 27, of Greensburg, died from his injuries when the truck slammed into his car. His wife and 3-year-old daughter were seriously injured.
Troopers said Clemons told them he didn’t see the car stopped at the red light.
Clemons pleaded guilty and his attorney argued that investigators failed to prove he was under the influence at the time of the accident. The case will now go to trial.
