WESTMORELAND COUNTY, Pa. — A 19-year-old woman was killed in an accident on a Westmoreland County road Monday night.
Theresa Sager of Sewickley Township was the driver of a pickup truck that crashed into a tree and flipped over on Herminie-West Newton Road.
Sager was a volunteer firefighter at Hutchinson Volunteer Fire Department. Black drapes were hung over the lettering at the station, with boots and gear sitting outside.
"She was a great person. She was always here. When you least expect her, she would show up in the middle of the night for a tree in the middle of the road," Hutchinson Fire Chief Bill Dull said.
The Hutchinson Fire Department received the call for Sager’s crash.
"At the point in time we got there, EMS already had her out, so we were there for fire suppression and to help them finish extricating her," Dull said.
She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Troopers said she was not wearing a seat belt.
Sager graduated from Yough High School last year. The principal told Channel 11’s Melanie Gillespie there will be grief counselors available at the school Wednesday.
"She was the best girl I could've ever dreamed of knowing. She was great. She was the best," Sager’s friend and fellow firefighter Jericho Cochran said.
