PITTSBURGH,None — Ada Hill said she was able to stop two men who were posing as roofers from stealing from her home.
Hill said three men showed up at her Emsworth Township home asking if she wanted work done on her roof. Hill said she immediately grew suspicious.
"I noticed and said, 'Hey. I don't like this moving around here. I don't want this. I think this is a scam,'" Hill said.
Hill said as the men were leaving she noticed one of them walking away with a lockbox from her bedroom.
"I saw he had something in his hands and I ran down the driveway and grabbed him by his sweatshirt and I grabbed him hard," Hill said. The man gave up the box, Hill said, but she didn't stop there. She said when she saw some children walking by she called for help.
"I screamed, 'Call the police, call the police!'" said Hill.
When police arrived the men had already gotten away. Ohio Township police Chief Norbert Micklos said people should never let strangers into their home.
"Call us and let us check out who these people are. We don't issue permits to just everybody to go out and canvass the area and try to sell stuff. We check the individuals out," Micklos said.
