ALESUND, NORWAY — The world's tallest bonfire was set ablaze this weekend in a town on the west coast of Norway.
Spectators gathered on the water and on shore to watch the spectacle.
At 156 feet tall, the wooden tower was built on an artificial island and lit around dusk.
Built of more than 30-thousand pallets stacked and nailed together, the tower beat the previous record-holder by 14 feet.
It's known as the St. John's Eve bonfire in Norway, and they set a record this year as the world's tallest.
The previous world record was a bonfire in Slovenia.
The fire was lit at nine p-m local time Saturday night and was designed to burn the whole night through.
