Duquesne University sports announcer dies after 8 week battle with COVID-19

PITTSBURGH — Known as “the voice of the steel city,” Duquesne University sports announced Dom Errico died yesterday after an 8-week battle with COVID-19.

“He had this energy that would liven up a room. He could win the game just because he would get the players that revved up and ready to do,” said Christine Friday, a friend of Errico’s. “He was pretty much immediately put on a ventilator. I know he was on dialysis. They eventually had to put a pacemaker in.”

His family and friends are shocked. His family is worried how they’ll make ends meet now without his salary. His job was their only source of income.

A fundraiser is being planned for May to help the family.
