Pirates donate $1 million to help PNC Park employees

PITTSBURGH — Officials with the Pittsburgh Pirates announced they have donated $1 million to help employees of PNC Park affected by the coronavirus.

Major League Baseball officials said each team was donating a million dollars to help the employees affected at each of their respective ballparks.

The league said the decision to delay the start of the season was made following recommendations from the CDC. It’s not clear if the league will be sticking with the mid-May opening or not.

This comes after Major League Baseball’s Opening Day was pushed back by 8 weeks because of the outbreak.
