The Pirates were one pitch away from securing their first winning season in eight years, but Eduardo Valencia’s walk-off two-run home run off Mason Montgomery in the ninth gave the Tigers a 4-3 win at Comerica Park on Saturday afternoon.

Top 4th, 1-0 PIT: Brandon Lowe broke the scoreless tie with a solo home run to right field off Justin Verlander. It was his 35th blast of the season.
