Jaylen Warren a big part of Steelers offense’s newly found spark

Pittsburgh Steelers running back Jaylen Warren has accumulated 490 yards from scrimmage over the past three weeks as the NFL season reaches its sixth week.

Warren’s recent production has provided an offensive boost to the Steelers as he steps into the role of primary running back.

Warren currently ranks third in the NFL for total yards from scrimmage, trailing only Jahmyr Gibbs and Bijan Robinson. His recent production includes a 188-yard scrimmage performance in the team’s previous game.

Warren entered the NFL as an undrafted rookie in 2022 after attending junior college. During his initial seasons with the Steelers, he performed as a backup to Najee Harris or shared backfield duties alongside Kenneth Gainwell.

Channel 11 reporter Shelby Cassesse spoke with the running back Thursday regarding his early-season statistics. Despite his statistical ranking near the top of the league, Pittsburgh Steelers running back Jaylen Warren said he remains focused primarily on team results.

“Yeah, I mean, that’s cool,” Warren said. “The goal is to win, though, at the end of the day. It’s still early in the year, so I don’t like to let myself get tied into stats. You know, the goal is to win. That’s all I’m focused on.”

Prior to each matchup, Warren reviews footage of his own performances from his high school and college years. He stated that those earlier playing periods were instrumental in forming the mindset he maintains today.
