PITTSBURGH — The Pittsburgh Steelers announced Monday the team will remember Antwon Rose Jr, who was shot and killed in 2018 by an East Pittsburgh police officer, by wearing his name on their helmets this season.
The team tweeted a picture with his name on the back of a helmet.

Steelers Head Coach Mike Tomlin called Rose’s mother, Michelle Kenney, last week to let her know about the team’s decision.
This year, the NFL is allowing players to wear helmet decals to honor victims of systemic racism. The Steelers players and coaches decided to wear a single name, Antwon Rose Jr., on their hats and helmets for the entire 2020 season.

On June 19, 2018, Rose, 17, was shot and killed running away from a traffic stop by East Pittsburgh police officer Michael Rosfeld.
Rosfeld tried in Rose’s death but was found not guilty.
