The Pittsburgh Steelers have released backup kicker Laith Marjan, the team announced on Sunday.
Marjan missed a 44-yard field goal wide left in Friday night’s 17-0 preseason loss to the New York Jets. Marjan wasn’t impressive at training camp, either.
Marjan signed with the Steelers as an unrestricted free agent. Marjan spent one season in Kansas, where he made 40 of 40 extra points and 14 of 17 field goals, while advancing as a semifinalist in the voting for the Lou Groza Award, which is given to the best kicker in the country.
