Penguins need to match desperation of Senators in Game 6

The Pittsburgh Penguins have a chance to close out the Eastern Conference Finals series against the Ottawa Senators Tuesday night, but they know it won’t be easy.

“We know we’re going to get Ottawa’s best game,” said Mike Sullivan, the Penguins head coach. “We have to be sure we are bringing ours.”

Forward Bryan Rust said the Penguins must get off to a hot start.

"We've got to put the past in the past and just focus on tonight. Our start is going to be key," Rust said.

Penguins captain Sidney Crosby did not take part in the optional skate Tuesday morning, nor did center Evgeni Malkin, Carl Hagelin, Ron Hainsey, Olli Maatta, or Mark Streit.

Sullivan said that Patric Hornqvist, Tom Kuhnhackl and Chad Ruhwedel did not make the trip with the team. Defenseman Justin Schultz was in Ottawa, but will not play in Game 6, according to Sullivan.

Coverage of Game 6 is scheduled at 8 p.m. on NBC Sports Network.
