PITTSBURGH — It’s the season of giving, and Pittsburgh Penguins captain Sidney Crosby gave a special gift to one young fan during Tuesday night’s game against the New York Rangers.
As he was leaving the ice at PPG Paints Arena after the Pens’ 7-2 win, Crosby spotted a girl in the stands holding a sign that read, “Sid, can I have your stick please!”
Crosby stopped to have a word with her and then handed over his hockey stick.
Justin Wise, the young girl’s father, told Channel 11 News that his daughter Lydia “absolutely loves Sid” and jokingly calls him her boyfriend. Dad said he approves.
Wise said his daughter was visibly shaking from excitement, tweeting, “Don’t think I’ve ever seen her that excited.”
