CRANBERRY TOWNSHIP, Pa. — Pittsburgh Penguins captain Sidney Crosby surprised 100 members of the “Little Penguins” youth hockey program Monday at UPMC Lemieux Sports Complex.

Crosby joined the “Little Penguins” on the ice after the Penguins’ practice.

The children had been told that they were going to the complex to watch Crosby and his teammates practice and then skate on the ice afterward -- but they weren’t told that Crosby would be joining them.

Each winner received a golden ticket inviting them to the event.

The young players who got to meet Crosby were selected at random when they picked up their equipment for this year’s “Little Penguins” program.
