Penguins make switch to "Pittsburgh Gold" for home and road jerseys

PITTSBURGH — The Pittsburgh Penguins’ uniforms are officially becoming black and “Pittsburgh Gold.”

The team announced Friday that starting with the NHL draft this weekend, both the home and away jerseys would be changed. %

The Penguins wore the alternate jersey for all home games during the 2016 Stanley Cup playoffs.

The team’s alternate jerseys have featured “Pittsburgh Gold” for the past two seasons. They closely resembled the design worn by the teams that won the Stanley Cup in 1991 and 1992.

The team unveiled a new road jersey featuring “Pittsburgh Gold” on Friday.

The Penguins had used “Vegas Gold” as a main uniform color since 2002.
