PITTSBURGH — Check the forecast before you make outdoor plans for the next few days. Periods of rain and cooler temperatures will put a damper on the unofficial start to summertime.

The first wave of wet weather develops before lunch Friday and continues through early afternoon. A few thunderstorms are also possible, though widespread severe weather is not in the forecast at this time.

Rain will become more scattered through the afternoon and evening so hopefully you can get outdoors.

A chilly rain shower or two will also be possible Saturday, so have an indoor plan B.

You’ll need the sweatshirts and jackets Saturday. A big push of cool air will keep high temperatures in the upper 50s, more than 15° below the average high temperature for this time of the year.

We’ll finally turn the corner Sunday, with most of the rain ending and temperatures starting to warm up.
