LIVE UPDATES: TORNADO WATCH remains in effect across the region

Storms could become severe with the primary threats being damaging winds, frequent lightning and heavy rain, but hail and isolated tornadoes can’t be ruled out.

UPDATE: 3:50 p.m.: Around 3,300 power outages have been reported across the region.

UPDATE 3:45 p.m.: All Severe Thunderstorm warnings in Western Pennsylvania have expired.

A Tornado Watch for most of the region is in effect until 8 p.m.

A Flood Watch for most of the region is in effect until 10 p.m.

UPDATE 3:05 p.m.: Part of Indiana County is under a Severe Thunderstorm Warning until 3:15 p.m.

UPDATE 2:45 p.m.: A Severe Thunderstorm Warning was issued for parts of Fayette, Greene, Washington and Westmoreland counties until 3:45 p.m.

UPDATE 2:25 p.m.: Parts of Allegheny, Fayette, Greene, Indiana, Washington and Westmoreland counties are under a Flood Watch until 10 p.m.

UPDATE 2:20 p.m.: The Baldwin-Whitehall School District delayed dismissal because of the previous tornado warning.

Buses will be delayed throughout the afternoon. Schools will send updates as to when bus dismissal will occur, but it is expected to be 20 minutes later than normal. We will keep an eye on the radar and warnings.

UPDATE 2:15 p.m.: The Tornado Warning in Greene County was allowed to expire.

UPDATE: 2:13 p.m.: Parts of Allegheny, Armstrong, Indiana and Westmoreland counties are under a Severe Thunderstorm Warning until 3 p.m.

Pittsburgh is included in this advisory.

UPDATE 2:07 p.m.: The Tornado Warning was dropped for Allegheny and Washington counties. A Tornado Warning in Greene County is ongoing.

UPDATE 1:58 p.m.: Allegheny County and Washington County are under a Tornado Warning until 2:30 p.m.

Pittsburgh is included in this alert.

UPDATE 1:53 p.m.: Part of Greene and Washington counties are under a Severe Thunderstorm Warning until 2:30 p.m.

UPDATE 1:50 p.m.: Part of Greene County is under a Tornado Warning until 2:15 p.m.

UPDATE 1:47 p.m.: Part of the region is now under a Tornado Watch until 8 p.m.

The counties included in the watch are: Allegheny, Fayette, Greene, Indiana, Washington and Westmoreland.

UPDATE 1:45 p.m.: Parts of Allegheny, Beaver, Washington and Westmoreland counties are under a Severe Thunderstorm Warning until 2:15 p.m.

Storms could become severe with the primary threats being damaging winds, frequent lightning and heavy rain, but hail and isolated tornadoes can’t be ruled out. Make sure to have a way to get alerts and stay weather aware.

Cooler air returns on Thursday morning following the front, with the chance of a few snow showers in the area. Highs on Thursday will only be in the low 40s, which is near average for this time of year, with wind chills in the 20s and 30s.
