Fog possible for Wednesday morning commute

PITTSBURGH — UPDATE 9:21 p.m. - Areas of fog could slow your morning commute Wednesday.

After a night of heavy rain, gusty winds, lightning and hail Tuesday, clearing skies will set the stage for fog to form in many areas.

Visibility could be a problem on your drive to work. Clouds will gradually give way to more sunshine through the afternoon.

UPDATE 9:05 p.m. - Duquesne Light confirms power outages are affecting customers across the area after heavy storms moved through.

UPDATE 8:42 p.m. - A portion of Mayview Road near Boyce Road is temporarily closed because of flooding.

UPDATE 7:42 p.m. - There are reports of a tree down on power lines in South Fayette.

UPDATE 7:30 p.m. - A severe thunderstorm warning has been issued for Allegheny, Fayette, Washington and Westmoreland counties until 8:15 p.m.

UPDATE 6:47 p.m. - A severe thunderstorm warning has been issued for Allegheny County until 7:30 p.m.

UPDATE 6:10 p.m. - A severe thunderstorm warning has been issued for Beaver and Washington counties until 7 p.m.

UPDATE 5:22 p.m. - A severe thunderstorm warning has been issued for Beaver and Lawrence counties until 6:30 p.m.

UPDATE 3:33 p.m. A severe thunderstorm warning was issued for Mercer and Lawrence counties until 4:15 p.m.

UPDATE 1:46 p.m. A severe thunderstorm watch was issued for Allegheny, Beaver, Butler, Lawrence, Mercer, Venango and Washington counties until 9 p.m.

Showers and thunderstorms are expected throughout the day Tuesday with the greater risk of any severe weather occurring between the hours of about 3 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Storms will be moving in ahead and along a cold front from northwest to southeast during these hours and may bring severe storms capable of damaging winds.

Small hail and locally heavy rainfall will also be threats.
