Mainly dry north of Pittsburgh, on and off showers south of the city

PITTSBURGH — Tale of two halves of the viewing area today.

It will be a damp morning south of Pittsburgh with on and off showers through the morning. A stray rumble of thunder can’t be ruled out. North of the city it will be mainly dry today with more of a mix of clouds and sun.

The start of the weekend will be quiet with warm temperatures Saturday under a partly cloudy sky.

Humidity comes back Sunday as a warm front lifts through the area bringing showers and thunderstorms. Depending on how ingredients come together, strong storms are possible along with very heavy rainfall, especially Sunday evening.

A cold front will slide through early next week, bringing a more noticeable drop in humidity levels and a few days of dry weather.
