PITTSBURGH — Hot and humid this afternoon and this evening. Heat indices will be in the 90s and around 100 degrees for some, as a Heat Advisory continues for Allegheny, Beaver, Butler, Washington, Greene, Monongalia (WV), along with eastern Fayette and eastern Westmoreland counties through 8 p.m.

Severe storms are also expected this evening. Severe storms will bring damaging winds, hail, heavy rain and frequent lightning. Isolated tornadoes can’t be ruled out.

UPDATE 4:30 P.M.: A Severe Thunderstorm Warning has been issued for northwestern Beaver, west-central Butler and southwestern Lawrence counties until 5:15 p.m.
A Severe Thunderstorm Warning has been issued for Mercer, northwestern Forest, Venango, northern Butler, northwestern Clarion and northern Lawrence counties until 5:30 p.m.
UPDATE 4 P.M.: A Severe Thunderstorm Watch is in effect for our entire area until 10 p.m.

Warm and muggy Friday with highs in the mid 80s. Scattered showers and a few thunderstorms are possible around midday and through the early afternoon hours.
Much nicer air arrives for Labor Day weekend with lower humidity and highs around 80 degrees starting Saturday.
