PITTSBURGH — A steady, soaking rain will move through the region tonight and persist through mid-morning on Sunday. If you are waking up early or heading out to morning services, expect wet roads and heavy downpours at times.
The good news for football fans is that the steady rain is expected to taper off into scattered showers by Sunday afternoon. While there may be a few breaks in the rain during the Steelers game, it will not be completely dry. If you are heading down to North Shore, definitely take your ponchos and rain jackets just in case.
Wind Advisory in Effect
In addition to the wet weather, the wind will begin to pick up throughout the day. Pittsburgh and the immediate local areas can expect wind gusts between 25 and 30 mph.
Conditions will be even stronger to our east and south, where a Wind Advisory has been issued. In these advisory areas — particularly across the ridges and southern counties — gusts could exceed 40 mph, which may lead to isolated power outages and downed tree limbs.
What to expect for your Sunday:
- Through Mid-Morning: Heavy, soaking rain at times.
- Sunday Afternoon: Rain transitions to scattered showers. Brief breaks are possible during the game.
- Winds: Gusting 25–30 mph locally; higher gusts south and east under a Wind Advisory.
