PITTSBURGH — We’ve certainly seen our string of 90s lately, but it’s now been 25 years since Pittsburgh touched off at 100 degrees.
On this date, July 15, 1995, Pittsburgh reached the century mark, making it the last time it has happened in the Steel City.

The hottest temperature we've ever seen in Pittsburgh is 103 degrees. That has happened three times, most recently on July 16, 1988.
Since records have been kept in the early 1870s, the mercury has climbed to 100 degrees nearly two dozen times, but not once in the last quarter century.
While we have not seen a 100-degree day since 1995, we do average seven 90-plus-degree days each summer.
