PITTSBURGH — Enjoy as much time outdoors as you can Thursday, because big changes are on the way Friday.
Temperatures will not be as warm as Wednesday, but sunshine will still make it a great day.
A cold rain, wind and the threat of a wintry mix moves in Friday, so be prepared.
Most of the morning commute looks dry, but plan to begin mid-morning and continue off and on through the afternoon. The rain could be steady to heavy at times causing creeks and streams to rise and touching off localized flooding.
A wintry mix will be possible north and east of Pittsburgh, especially near I-80. However, warmer air will eventually change any mix to all rain as the day goes on.
The other major impact will come from the wind. Gusts of 40 to 45 mph will be possible around Pittsburgh, Butler, Beaver, Washington and Greensburg, with even higher gusts possible east towards the ridges of Westmoreland and Fayette counties.
Wind advisories are likely and power outages will be possible.
This system will create quickly changing travel conditions on Friday, so stay with Severe Weather Team 11 for the latest updates.
