New Year’s Day begins with snow, rain showers; temperatures should reach upper 30s

PITTSBURGH — 2024 will start off seasonably chilly with highs in the 30s and low 40s much of the week.

Snow flurries and drizzle will linger into the overnight hours.  Watch for icy patches late as untreated surfaces that are damp could get a bit slick as temperatures drop below freezing.

We’ll finally see some sunshine mix in with clouds tomorrow but thicker clouds will race back in Wednesday ahead of the next system. That front could bring us some snow showers early Thursday followed by a colder shot of air Thursday night.

The weekend will have to be watched for a potential storm system that could bring snow and some wintry mix to the area.  Many possibilities are on the table for the weekend.  Stay with Severe Weather Team 11 for live updates in every newscast throughout the week.
