PITTSBURGH — The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society is gearing up for its annual Light The Night Walk. The walk is being held tonight at Heinz Field, and fundraising efforts are in full swing.

Each year, people from across the nation form teams to raise money to fund lifesaving blood cancer research around the world and provide free information and support services.
"We turn them all on at the same time. We light the night to show cancer 'we're trying to beat you,'" said Monica Snyder of the LLS. "It's just so beautiful, breathtaking, and for one night Pittsburgh is supporting LLS."
Walkers carry colored lanterns signifying survivors and other who have suffered from the disease.
The LLS is the world's largest voluntary health agency dedicated to blood cancer. According to its website, the mission of LLS is to: Cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease and myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families.
