HARMAR, Pa. — The Harmar bald eagles laid their first egg of 2017, the Audubon Society of Western Pennsylvania announced Tuesday.
The egg was laid after sundown Monday in the nest, which is located on a hillside above Route 28. It is expected to hatch in 35 days.
During incubation, the male and female eagle will take turns staying in the nest and turning the egg so that it maintains a constant temperature.
In 2016, the Harmar eagles laid two eggs. Eagles typically lay eggs with 2-4 day intervals in between each egg.
