PITTSBURGH — Pittsburgh Police Chief Jason Lando is working to boost numbers within the bureau as the city navigates a shortage of officers.

The former Pittsburgh Police chief eliminated the overnight duty officer and essentially closed the city’s six police stations between 3 a.m. and 7 a.m. and because of staffing issues, some of them were not even open during the day.

Channel 11 Chief Investigator Rick Earle sat down with current chief Jason Lando to learn how he’s working to change that and get new officers on the force.

This is a developing story. Check back for updates as more information becomes available.
