All of Ligonier Valley School District’s buildings will reopen this week after officials addressed indoor air quality concerns.
In a letter Wednesday, Superintendent Matthew Mols said R.K. Mellon Elementary School and Ligonier Valley Middle School will reopen Tuesday, following remediation, testing and review by environmental professionals.
Three classrooms in R.K. Mellon were previously found to have relatively high levels of mold.
Some rooms may remain isolated in the two buildings for final remediation and verification, Mols said. That doesn’t prevent the rest of the building from being utilized, based on environmental professionals’ guidance.
Ligonier Valley High School and Laurel Valley Elementary School reopened Wednesday, according to another letter from Mols Tuesday.
The high school auditorium will remain closed for remediation of “visible growth” in some areas, Mols said, adding that air samples from the auditorium were negative for mold.
Ligonier Valley High School, Laurel Valley Elementary School and Ligonier Valley Middle School have been closed since Aug. 31 for testing and potential remediation.
