Arrest made after bomb threat found written on bathroom wall at Mars Area High School

ADAMS TOWNSHIP, Pa. — An arrest has been made after a bomb threat was found written on a bathroom wall inside Mars Area High School on Tuesday.

According to a letter from the district to parents, the Adams Township Police Department made the arrest on Thursday afternoon.

Mars Area School District Superintendent Mark Gross said that there is no threat to students or staff members in the district, but out of an abundance of caution, “enhanced security measures” will be in place at the high school on Friday. Police will also conduct an extra sweep of the building before the start of the school day.

“The District would like to thank Adams Township Police Department, City of Pittsburgh Police, Northern Regional Police Department, Beaver County Sheriff’s Office and other law enforcement personnel for their quick and diligent response as well as for their continued support of the District’s efforts to ensure a safe and secure educational environment for our students, faculty and staff members,” Gross said.

No additional details surrounding the arrest, including the person’s age, have been released.
