Beaver County youth football team officially barred from postseason

NEW BRIGHTON, Pa. — The Brighton Township Bears youth football team in Beaver County has been officially barred from participating in the postseason.

The decision follows a failed attempt by the organization to overturn a league ruling that removed the squad from playoff contention.

The suspension occurred after a player reached the age of 13 during the season, breaching age rules set by the league.

The Bears organization informed families of the final ruling via a written notice this week.

“We recognize how deeply disappointing this is for our players, cheerleaders, coaches, and families who have dedicated so much time and effort throughout the season,” the team’s statement reads.

To avoid further penalties, the organization requested that families maintain a respectful demeanor online and during any engagements with opposing squads.
