Channel 11 is getting a first look at evidence in the case of a local soccer star’s murder.
This release of some evidence comes a day after Royce Moser and his mom, Rachel, appeared in court. Royce is accused of killing his girlfriend, Karoline Heintz, and investigators say his mom tried to help him cover up the crime.
Royce Moser apparently had a camera system in his bedroom, and detectives say it captured this photo of him wearing latex gloves while talking with his mother, Rachel — not long after investigators say he confessed to her that he murdered his girlfriend, Karoline Heintz.
Karoline was a recent Peters Township High School graduate and a freshman soccer player at PennWest California.
Earlier that night, police found Karoline’s body in the back of her Jeep after investigators say Royce used this knife, which was thrown into a trash can, to stab her in her heart.
Prosecutors presented evidence from Royce’s phone during his hearing and showed a number of Google searches he allegedly made after the murder.
Some of those searches include “What removes fingerprints from objects?” And “What if a demon controlled you and you murdered someone?”
After the stabbing, police say Royce made multiple calls to his mother and told her he didn’t know if his girlfriend was dead or alive.
That’s when detectives say Rachel washed her son’s bloody clothes, gave him the latex gloves, and had him follow her in Karoline’s jeep back to PennWest California’s campus — as she led the way in her car — which was captured on surveillance video.
Police found Karoline’s body in the hatch of the Jeep.
Detectives said Royce was trying to convince Karoline to stop at his house on her way back to college, and that’s when he stabbed her.
