BETHEL PARK, Pa. — It’s been a challenging 24 hours after strong storms brought trees down and knocked out power. Duquesne Light says it expects all customers to be restored by 4 p.m. Sunday.

It’s been lights out along a stretch of Library Road in Bethel Park after strong storms knocked out power to traffic lights and businesses.
“We closed early last night, and then we came in this morning and still no power,” Matt Lehman said.
Colonial Beer is one of the impacted businesses that, even without power, figured out a way to stay open on Friday.
“We can do cash sales. We got a book we gotta write everything down and figure things out, you know, the old school way,” Lehman explained.
A little hectic, he says, but well worth it to be able to serve community members who also lost power.
Kevin Murphy lives in Bethel Park. He said, “We had a generator overnight so we were alright, but we have a tree down in the front yard so I have some yard work to do so the beer is to help with that.”
In Greenfield, Halley Katz remains without power after a huge tree nearly hit her Lilac Street home.
Katz said, “I’m really lucky it missed the house and that’s good enough for me right now. Hey, I’m still alive, I can come out here and look at this instead of being under it.”
She says within an hour she had several neighbors offering help, as Katz says she has no idea when her lights will come back on.
She said, “And I keep checking the Duquesne Light outage map, and it keeps telling me it’s to be determined.”
Matt Neistein, Duquesne Light Company, said, “We’re working as quickly as we can to get those estimates we know people want them we know they’re important we will get those out.”
Duquesne Light says crews are working until everyone’s power is restored. They’ve brought in extra crews from out of state.
Neistein added, “More hands make less work, so if we can call in some outside assets in order to help get that accomplished, that’s what we’re going to do.”
West Penn Power also says it has crews out working around the clock to restore power. Both West Penn and Duquesne Light are reminding anyone who sees downed wires to stay away and call 911.
