FREEDOM, Pa. — The FBI has released a new statement about the investigation into bomb threats made against Freedom Area School District over the past several weeks.
A spokesperson for FBI Pittsburgh released the following statement about the investigation on Thursday afternoon:
“The FBI is working closely with the New Sewickley Township Police Department to identify and bring to justice the individual(s) responsible for recent bomb threats directed at the Freedom Area School District. Making threats of violence—especially those that disrupt schools and endanger our communities—is a serious offense and can constitute a federal crime. The FBI and our partners intend to fully enforce the law and ensure the perpetrator(s) is held accountable.”
This new statement comes days after Channel 11 sent multiple inquiries to the FBI over the course of threats made against the school district in recent weeks.
Freedom Area School District was last evacuated on Monday. The district has acknowledged four bomb threats to Channel 11 since the start of the school year, with the first threat sent on Aug. 31. Each of those threats resulted in evacuations.

Students have not been evacuated since returning to classes on Wednesday, following a remote learning day on Tuesday.
