Freedom Area High School receives 3rd emailed bomb threat in less than 2 weeks

Another emailed bomb threat was sent to the Freedom Area High School principal on Wednesday morning, the third one in less than two weeks.

Freedom Area School District Superintendent Jeff Beltz said in a statement on the district’s website that buses will complete normal runs, but the high school students will be held at the middle school while law enforcement completes a search and sweep of the high school building.

Once cleared, students will be moved back to the high school.

The other two buildings will operate on a regular schedule with added police presence today.

Beltz asks families not to drive onto campus for an early dismissal pickup until after 7:50 a.m., when all middle school and high school buses have dropped off students. If coming to the campus to pick up the student, the district said to immediately turn onto Thorne Street, park in the large parking lots and walk to the school for dismissal procedures.

Beltz said that if families decide to keep their students home today, it will be considered an excused absence.
